So Much to do..... So Little time!!

I dont know about y'all but there is just not enough time or weekends for that matter in this month for me to go and do all the things I "Need" or want to do. Work is busy, no time off from there to do things during the week and by the time I get home get supper cooked, homework done, baths, housework (which Always gets pushed aside) it's time for bed. October has pretty much just started and my weekends are booked! We're having a Halloween costume party the 29th and I feel so overwhelmed with getting all the decorations and decorating done on time it's just unreal.

Wesley's school is having one fundraiser after another, pictures being taken, his fall festival is coming up soon. I guess it's just a busy busy month for everyone.

But to look on the bright side of things, this is my Most Favorite time of year. The cooler weather has been wonderful and the idea of getting out and buying the pumpkins and decorating has lifted my spirits a bit. So I guess it's not all that bad. I will just have to pace myself and just relax and enjoy whatever comes my way. Good or Bad.

A Chat with Wesley

This is so sweet I just had to share it.

I just love those little talks I have with my kids. You know the kind where you're talking about this and that and then they say something and it just blows your mind as to how they come up things or how they know what to say. Wesley is my youngest son at the ripe ole age of 5.

We were chatting yesterday about Love. Like he knows about love right? Well thats what I thought anyway. He told me that he loooves me this much and he put his arms behind his back, thats alot of love for a 5 year old. giggle. Anyway he asked me how much did I love him and I told him it could not be measured as to how much I love him. Of course he didnt understand that. He said do you love me to the moon and back? Yes, several times more too.

So I asked him "how do you know that I love you?" "how can you tell?" His reply was............"I can see it in your eyes!" How sweet is that?

MIA & Made a Decision

Yep, I guess that's whatcha can call it. I've been Missing In Action! I cant believe it's been since Christmas that I last posted. I have missed y'all!

It's been one more C-ray-Z winter here and like many of y'all Im ready for some Spring Thyme! We dont usually get snow here in our part of NC but this winter I can say I've seen enough snow for a while. The kids have loved it but it's time for Ol' Man Winter to go!

I have decided with much regret to put my crafting on hold for a while. I have just gotten to a point where I have no desire to make or do anything. It's sad I know, but right now I feel it's what I need to do.

Merry CHRISTmas!!

I dont know about y'all but I have been frantic here trying to get ready for CHRISTmas! I had put my shopping off until the last minute which is something I NEVER do. After spending a day in the stores this past weekend its something I will NEVER do again. Each year it seems harder and harder for me to get in the Spirit of things. This year being the worst.

After months of not having a job, then during that time a separation I just didnt know if I was gonna make it. The bills were piling up let alone knowing how I was gonna pay for CHRISTmas. But along came a job and things worked out. I know its gonna be hard on the kids this year but they are tougher than we think sometimes. Things will work out.

I wanted to wish my blogging family a Very Merry CHRISTmas and Happy New Year. I hope Santa is good to each and every one of y'all. Prim Blessings.

Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Today was a fun filled day. I went with Wesley's class to the pumpkin patch today. We all had so much fun. The morning started out very Chhilly but around lunchtime the wind stopped blowing and it turned out to be a nice Fall day.

We started our morning with a 30 minute hayride. I have not been on one in quite a few years, so it was fun for me as well. After that the kids got to take a train ride. The cars were made to look like cows and each one had a name. The funniest one was the car/cow named Bodacious. How funny is that?

Then came the pumpkin patch. The kids scrambled to pick out their favorite pumpkin. So much to choose from.. they all went for the larger pumpkins. The parents got to pick a pumpkin too. Wesley was a little jealous that I got a bigger one than he did.

We then had lunch and it was so nice. This class is so well behaved, we didnt even know they were there while eating. I think that says alot. Very well behaved for a group of 4-5 year olds. After lunch we had storytime and they were told about a girl named Rebecca who lived on a pumpkin farm. Very cute story it was. I think the part they loved the most about storytime was getting to pet the rabbit.

And lastly but certainly not a favorite part of the trip was the cornmaze. Im not a very big fan of corn fields, I just dont know something about them just creeps me out giggle. But as you can tell we all made it through and everyone had a wonderful time. I have a slideshow and if you have time take a peek. There are quite a few of them so be sure you have to time to watch.

We had Wesley's party yesterday.

Im gonna tell ya when you're 5 years old an envelope with money is not very exciting. I gladly accept envelopes with money.. giggle.

I think he was happy with what he got and when he found out he could use some of the money to buy something he wanted he got a little more excited. We'll see. So Happy Birthday my little WessieBoo! Mama loves you...<3

Halloween was originally a Celtic holiday celebrated on October 31.

Halloween was brought to North America by immigrants from Europe who would celebrate the harvest around a bonfire, share ghost stories, sing, dance and tell fortunes.

Orange and black are Halloween colors because orange is associated with the Fall harvest and black is associated with darkness and death.

There are no words in the dictionary that rhyme with orange, the color of pumpkin.

According to folklore, the jack-o-lantern got his name from a man named Jack.

Turnips and beets served as the original jack-o-lanterns.

Jack o lanterns originated in Ireland where people placed candles in hollowed-out turnips to keep away spirits and ghosts on the Samhain holiday.

Mexico celebrates 'The Day of the Dead' instead of Halloween.

Fall Hike

~Trick Or Treat~

The custom of 'trick or treat' probably has several origins. Again mostly Irish.An old Irish peasant practice called for going door to door to collect money, bread cake, cheese, eggs, butter, nuts, apples, etc., in preparation for the festival of St. Columbus Kill. Yet another custom was the begging for soul cakes, or offerings for one's self - particularly in exchange for promises of prosperity or protection against bad luck. It is with this custom the concept of the fairies came to be incorporated as people used to go door to door begging for treats. Failure to supply the treats would usually result in practical jokes being visited on the owner of the house.

Since the fairies were abroad on this night, an offering of food or milk was frequently left for them on the steps of the house, so the houseowner could gain the blessings of the "good folk" for the coming year. Many of the households would also leave out a "dumb supper" for the spirits of the departed.

Irisleabhar na Gaedhilge, ii, 370, states that in parts of Count Waterford: 'Hallow E'en is called oidhche na h-aimléise, "The night of mischief or con". It was a custom which survives still in places -- for the "boys" to assemble in gangs, and, headed by a few horn-blowers who were always selected for their strength of lungs, to visit all the farmers' houses in the district and levy a sort of blackmail, good humouredly asked for, and as cheerfully given. They afterward met at some point of rendezvous, and in merry revelry celebrated the festival of Samhain in their own way. When the distant winding of the horns was heard, the bean a' tigh [woman of the house] got prepared for their reception, and also for the money or builín (white bread) to be handed to them through the half-opened door. There was always a race amongst them to get possession of the latch. Whoever heard the wild scurry of their rush through a farm-yard to the kitchen-door -- will not question the propriety of the word aimiléis [mischief] applied to their proceedings. The leader of the band chaunted a sort of recitative in Gaelic, intoning it with a strong nasal twang to conceal his identity, in which the good-wife was called upon to do honour to Samhain..." According to Tad Tuleja's essay, "Trick or Treat: Pre-Texts and Contexts," in Santino's previously mentioned anthology,Halloween's modern trick or treating (primarily children going door-to-door, begging for candy) began fairly recently in the US, as a blend of several ancient and modern influences. In 19th Century America, rural immigrants from Ireland and Scotland kept gender-specific Halloween customs from their homelands: girls stayed indoors and did divination games, while the boys roamed outdoors engaging in almost equally ritualized pranks, which their elders "blamed" on the spirits being abroad that night. Its entry into urban world can probably traced back in mid-19th Century New York, where children called "ragamuffins" would dress in costumes and beg for pennies from adults on Thanksgiving Day. Things got nastier with increased urbanization and poverty in the 1930's. Adults began casting about for ways to control the previously harmless but now increasingly expensive and dangerous vandalism of the "boys." Towns and cities began organizing "safe" Halloween events and householders began giving out bribes to the neighborhood kids as a way to distract them away from their previous anarchy. The ragamuffins disappeared or switched their date to Halloween.

The term "trick or treat," finally appears in print around 1939! Pranks became even nastier in the 1980's, with widespread poverty existing side-by-side with obscene greed. Unfortunately, even bored kids in a violence saturated culture slip all too easily from harmless "decoration" of their neighbors' houses with shaving cream and toilet paper to serious vandalism and assaults. Blaming either Neopagans or Halloween for this is rather like blaming patriots or the Fourth of July for the many firecracker injuries that happen every year (and which are also combatted by publicly sponsored events). Given this hazardous backdrop town councils, school boards and parents in the 1930's invented this custom as it is being celebrated today to keep their kids out of trouble.

As far as the custom across the Atlantic goes, by the mid- 20th century in Ireland and Britain, the smaller children would dress up and parade to the neighbors' houses, do little performances, then ask for a reward. American kids seem to remember this with their chants of "Jingle bells, Batman smells, Robin laid an egg," and other classic tunes done for no reason other than because "it's traditional."

^^History of the Jack O' Lantern^^

This is based on an old Irish legend about the drunk, Jack. One day he was out in the woods and tricked Satan into a tree to throw down some fruit. Once Satan had helped him he carved a cross into the tree and trapped him there. He then struck a deal that Satan would leave his soul alone when he died. This backfired when he died since heaven would not take him either. When he kept bothering the Devil to let him in the Devil gave him a burning ember instead. He carried the ember in a hollowed out turnip (sometimes described as rotton) to light his way as he wandered through eternal darkness on the earth. Eventually this was replaced with the pumpkin in America and became the modern Jack-o-Lantern

According to Rees & Rees, the folks who were abroad in the night imitating the fairies would some- times carry turnips carved to represent faces. This is the origin of our modern Jack-o-lantern. It became popular as house decorations in the United States after immigrant Irish discovered how much easier pumpkins were to carve than turnips, unleashing what has turned into quite an art form in the last decade or so. This later assumed a spooky touch, especially when the glowing faces appear from the darkness.

Witches have had a long history with Halloween. Legends tell of witches gathering twice a year when the seasons changed, on April 30 - the eve of May Day and the other was on the eve of October 31 - All Hallow's Eve.
The witches would gather on these nights, arriving on broomsticks, to celebrate a party hosted by the devil. Superstitions told of witches casting spells on unsuspecting people, transform themselves into different forms and causing other magical mischief.

It was said that to meet a witch you had to put your clothes on wrong side out and you had to walk backwards on Halloween night. Then at midnight you would see a witch.

When the early settlers came to America, they brought along their belief in witches. In American the legends of witches spread and mixed with the beliefs of others, the Native Americans - who also believed in witches, and then later with the black magic beliefs of the African slaves.

The black cat has long been associated with witches. Many superstitions have evolved about cats. It was believed that witches could change into cats. Some people also believed that cats were the spirits of the dead.

One of the best known superstitions is that of the black cat. If a black cat was to cross your path you would have to turn around and go back because many people believe if you continued bad luck would strike you.

Hello Everyone. No I didnt fall off the face of the Earth. I am sooo ashamed that I have not been around. It has been a busy time around here with school getting out and working and then the other stuff that that just seems to drain the life right out ofya I feel like I have lost touch with my online family.

Josh did good on his report card and Im happy to say that he was promoted to the 10th grade. Whoohoo.... my goodness when did my baby grow up? Wesley is doin' well too. He wont start to this year, I will get to hang on to him for one more year.

Sadly as far as crafting goes, I have not made one thing. I have lots that I should be working on but with everything happening the way it is I just dont have the motivation to make anything. I have got to get my hiney in gear and get something made. My friend Angie and I are doing the show in Amherst VA. with Lori of Not Forgotten Farm so I think its time that I get on something.

I feel like I havent been here in months. I have been busy reading the Twilight Saga and I tell ya it just "sucked" me right in. I have finally finished all four books and I hate to rush things, but cant wait until Novemember when New Moon comes out.

My craftroom is coming along slowly but surely. It's gonna take some time but we're getting there. I will have to take some pics and them posted. Im trying to wait until the walls are done before I do that.

Im not crafting as much now. I dont much during the Spring and Summer. Im trying to look ahead to fall and winter.

Sorry y'all I know it's after 10 am my time. It's been one Crazy morning. I have been on the phone with every natural gas company I know and some I didnt even know was out there. We have a natural gas line that runs through our property and last summer they had to do some repairs on certain parts of the line. Anyway there is now a huge sink hole and the other day Wesley decided he wanted to jump down in it..Not good I tell Not good. So I had to call to see when they Might be able to come and fix it. So Im a little behind this morning....

~Easter Giveaway~

Easter will upon us before we know it. So my giveaway this time is related to Easter memories.

As a child I can remember my Granny (Mama's Mama) would give us those peanut butter chocolate covered eggs. They would come in a little white box with green grass topped off with a pastel flower and leaves. They were the best eggs. That is a memory that sticks in my mind.

Update on Craftroom

Well, it seems this is gonna be one of those "weekend" projects. DH had to work Saturday and didn't work on the room until Sunday. He did manage to get the wires connected for the outlets. That's good. And we have had so much rain that it was too muddy for him to get the plywood to put the floor down. He also got part of ceiling down so we could get some insulation added there. It's a slow moving progress, so hang with us and venture through this. No new pictures, sorry nothing to see. But hopefully soon I will have some to share.

The making of my New Craftroom/office

I have been needing this for a long time. A craftroom/office and now it's in the making. We have a sunporch on the west side of the house that we Never use. I have been asking DH for-ever to please convert it into a room for me. Well this past weekend he finally got the wild hair to start construction. There were 3 sliding glass doors so he made some walls and put in a window and door. Im so excited about this I can hardly wait.

Here are the walls where the window and door will be.

With times being tight like they are, we decided to try to salvage anything we could to help keep the cost down. Along the inside wall was aluminum siding. DH ripped it off to use on the outside walls. Well underneath was the old wood siding. I havent decided yet what I want to do with this wall. I dont know if I want to keep the wood siding and paint or if I just want to seal up all the holes and build a new wall.

I dont know if I have ever told ya'll about my home. I live in the old family homeplace. It was built in 1926 by my great grandpa. Who was a tobacco farmer. It was a single room house made from a tobacco barn. Some of you may know what that is. A tobacco barn is where they would cure the tobacco before takin it to be sold.

So many family members have lived here in the past years. And boy have I been told stories of how this place is haunted. I dont believe it, I have never seen or heard some of the stuff they have told me. I think it was just their mama's way of keepin them close and out of trouble. LOL. It was not until my daddy's sister married that they bought the house and eight years ago DH and I bought the house from them. Nannie(daddy's mama) has told me stories about how they would cure the tobacco upstairs and how she has carried a many tobacco sticks full of tobacco down these stairs. When Papa was alive he would tell us that he slept upstairs and during the winter when it would snow, he could remember waking up with snow on him because well, there were cracks and holes in the roof. I guess they did the best they could do with what they had. After all there was a depression goin on.

So as you can imagine this old home is very drafty... So with the new room I am gonna make sure that every little hole and crack is sealed up. I dont want to freeze while Im out there trying to create something.

LOL, y'all didnt know you were gonna get a histroy lesson this morning. I love my home and history behind it. That's all I have for right now. Thank you for stoppin by,, until next time....

I just wanted to share with y'all the stitchery pillow I made for my friend Wendy. It is a Stacy Nash pattern as some of you may know. The sewing pocket stitchery, but I finished it as a pillow. I think it turned out great.

I am in the process of finishing another pattern of hers too. Cant wait to get that one finished as well. Im gonna frame this one. I will post it later on.

Second, Im working on cleaning up my dining/craft room. This was Not planned. But has been needing it for soooo long. I started yesterday before work and this will be a work in progress. Im ashamed to post this picture. Wish me luck on this one, cause Im gonna need it.

Hello Everyone, I feel like I havent posted in for-ever. I have been trying to stay away from the computer so I can get some much needed things done around here. I am so far behind on getting spring crafting started, and cleaning. It's hard when the wash backs up and stuff just lays around for days. So, I thought I would do a quick post this morning and then busy myself with everything that needs to be done. Hopefully I can get most of the cleaning done today. I hate housework, I put it off and I really shouldnt.

Im working on some spring patterns, got them traced out and sewn up, just need to finish them.

I havent had much excitement to talk about. I did get a new laptop. I got tired of fighting the kids over the desktop, so I talked DH into letting me get one. Im sooo glad I did. What a difference it makes.

I have started on a few of the Goodwill finds from last week. I have one finished, and 2 that need to be finished. This one was the blue candle sconce I picked up. I painted black over antique gold and put a label on it. I like it.

I tell ya my days dont seem to last very long. By the time I get Josh up and ready for school, take him to meet my aunt. Get home, fix Wesley breakfast then it's time to start lunch because his nap time has to come early due to having to pick Josh up after school. Then it's time for me to go to work. My day is gone. I work til 6 and by the time I get home it's supper and baths then bedtime. There are just not enough hours in the day, and even if there were I probably wouldnt get everything done I would more than likely add to my list of things to do.

Well, I better get busy. Got that kitchen to clean and mop. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I see the sun is finally coming up, it looked like rain but it may turn out to be a beautiful day after all. Until next time. Hugs..

Thrift Store finds and a Re-do

Morning all. Im a little behind on posting my thrift store finds. Wesley and I got up Friday morning and hit the thrift stores. I had several things in mind that I was looking for, but didnt find them. I did come home with a few things though and I have revamped one of them already. I spent a total of $22, I dont think that was to bad. This is what I picked up:

2- oval wooden bowls
1- wire rug beater
1- Candle sconce(blue)
1- Set of sconces
1- Soon to be wooden candle sconce (left) not sure what they are called, but gonna make it a candle holder
1- Wooden slotted thingy. Not sure what I will use it for, but I'll think of something. Any ideas will be appreciated
1- Set of canisters. They have some ugly potpori (sp) in them. Gonna put some labels on them and use'em in the bathroom.
1- Little wooden peg thingy, hard to see that one. In front of canister set.

My plans for Friday night were to finish them all, but with things goin on here I only finished the canister set. I hope to get the rest of them finished soon. Here is the completed canister set. I "had" to order more labels I got these from blue*cupboard*primitives on ebay. 54 in the set. Love'em.

Now for the Re-do part of my post. After visiting Lisa's shop yesterday, and getting all my goodies I had to find a home for them.

I have a cabinet that I have been wanting to paint for the longest time. I dont know why I have been putting it off. So, yesterday after returning home I set out to paint that cabinet. It took me the longest time, but I got it finished. Im soooo glad I painted it and now some of my items have a new home.

Before it was just a country looking cabinet with chicken wire on the doors on the top.

I think black is all the rage and it seems that everything I find or have I want to paint black. That was my color of choice. I had a wonderful little helper too. I cant forget to mention my helper. He did such a wonderful job painting the drawers and doors.
For those of you who have met my youngest, this is Wesley he is 4. He loooves to help his mama paint. I dont think it's so much that he thinks he's helping me I think it's the thrill of getting to paint. LOL

Ok, ok back to the finished project. Here it is:

I replaced the wire with some homespun fabric rather than using the wire. I love how it turned out. Here are a few more of the items I chose to add to the cabinet.

There is one of the flicker candles and holder and the trivet I got from Lisa.

Honey!! Im home

Just wanted to let you all know that Angie and I had a great time today. As Angie said it felt good to get away.. We left around 9:45 this morning and it took us an hour and 15 mins to drive down. Lisa was sooo sweet, and she has a sweet little shop. I just loved everything. I dont see how she does it. But what a wonderful day it was. NO rain, the sun was shinning and we could not have asked for a better day to travel. Here is what I got. I just love it all.

Oh my I just love this candle. I have to learn how to makes these. So Lisa if you read this, I will be more than willing to take on class on making these..

I was amazed at how big this bunch of flowers was. I think they will look wonderful in some Spring creations.

After leaving Lisa's we decided to get some lunch. We ate the Cracker Barrell, and it was soooo yummy. I had chicken and dumplins, slaw, pinto beans and hashbrown casserole. I did eat all my veggies, just couldnt handle all those dumplins though. We then hit AC Moore. Got a few things, noting to really mention though just craft supplies..

Im so tired... I had a great day. Thank you Angie for goin with me. Thank you Lisa for having an Old Fashioned Valentine's. Hope to see you in the Spring.

Yep that's right. My friend Angie and I have planned a road trip. Where to, you may be asking...??? Well, we are headed to Trinity NC for Lisa's Homethrown Pottery Old-Fashioned Valentines. I can hardly wait. We have been wanting to go for a long time now, so we finally decided to head her way. It will be a good little drive for us but it will be soooo worth it.

Im trying to get the house in order today. You know that when the men folk are home alone they dont clean. So I better get busy and get things goin here. I just wanted to share my excitement.. I hope you all have a wonderful day..

Obsessed

I have to admit it. Im obsessed. It has nothing to do with crafting, collecting, eating, or anything like that. I am obsessed with Gone With the Wind. (did I hear a snicker?) I cant help I am sooo in love with this movie. I cant help watching it and thinking that the ending will be different each time. Funny I know. If only Scarlett had realized her love for Rhett sooner. I know I know, if only.

Ahh, and Clark Gable I think he was such a dreamy man and Vivian Leigh was just beautiful. Oh to have a love such as theirs.

After spending one Sunday watching the whole movie, I set out on a mission to find the sequel. Scarlett! Well, I found it on ebay and snatched it right up. Now Im obsessed that one. How silly is that?

These are not the only 2 movies I feel this way about. There are many others. Do you ever get like this? What are some movies you obsess over?

What I've been working on

I have been busy around here. Seems that I get pulled in 15 different directions. Do you ever feel that way? Lots of things goin on, to many to name.

I thought I would try my hand at salt dough bowl fillers. I just loved doing this project. And it really didnt take that long to make them. I am very pleased with how they came out. I have them for sale on my site and I also have the recipe for sale there as well.

With me trying anything new, I was a little afraid of how they would turn out. I got them all cut out and baked them and then the thought of how to grunge (grub) them took it's toll on me. But after many steps and alot of candle wax I finally got them finished.

I have seen quite a few GW finds that have been primmed up and they all look wonderful. Everyone is doing a wonderful job revamping their found treasures. So, tell me other than TS finds what are you working on?

I want to say Thank you to Olde Dame Penniwig at Penniwig's Blog I had a great time playing along and I also found a few interesting blogs along the way. I won the needlepunch, a needle refill, a bag of beads, and yummy smellin' tart. I was thinkin' it was gonna be a needle punch pattern. I was sooo surprised when I opened the envelope and there was a tool. I had one on to get list and I was so happy when I knew I had gotten one. I have never done a needle punch before, and I have been practicing. I have a book coming with patterns for rug hooking and needle punch, so I will be busy with learning a new craft..

Ok, I hit the thrift stores this morning. I found 3 of those cheese crocks and brought them home and put some labels on'em. I also got 2 more candle sticks that I plan to make some make-dos with. Yep I sure did. I finished her up Sunday. Jay and the boys were gone, so I knew I wouldnt get another chance to have the house to myself. That's the good news, bad news is my Daddy has borrowed my camera. So cant take any pictures. :( I'm so excited about her too. Very prim she is. Now as soon as I get my camera I will be posting a picture..

We got snow yesterday, not a whole lot to brag about but hey we'll take what we can get. Giggle. Snow is Very rare in these parts. When they call for snow everyone panics. Heads to the grocery store to stock up on bread, milk, eggs and cereal. Usually when we get it, we get it bad. Not this time, just a little dusting.

The kids did get a snow day out of it so I know they were happy. Josh starts exams this week. Y'all say a little prayer for'em. He needs all the help he can get. He had a hard time with math this semister. Fundamental math at that. Next semister will be Algerba 1. Oh give me strength.

What am I gonna work on today? That seems to be the question. The normal here house chores. I have been searching and searching for new Spring patterns. Not one has caught my eye. I guess I will hit my patterns to see what I have to get me started. Seems to me that primitive patterns are getting harder to find. Everything seems cutesy to me. I dont know maybe it's just me. Still NO Water

Well here it is quarter past 7 and we still do not have water. Im going nuts. I did send DH down to my mama's house to get buckets full of water to put in the bathtub, so we could at least flush!!!

I have not finished the doll I started on. With everything going on around here I did manage to get everything sewn together, just have to stuff and finish'er up. I was in hopes of getting it finished it today. Oh well! I'll just do what I can.

I got my labels today from Yankee Lane Primitives. I ordered the labels from ebay, but she does have a website. I am soooo in love with these labels. If you havent seen them Rondell has some finished jars on her blog and Beth has used them as well. I need to get to town and see if I cant find some jars to do or something. I have searched the whole house and I have Nothing. What a shame...

Well, just wanted to catch y'all up on the water issues. Dont know when we have any. Tomorrow is supposed to be a little warmer than today, but the ground is sooo frozen I just dont see us having any tomorrow either. We are supposed to get snow showers tomorrow, watch it be a full blown blizzard. We due a good snow.

Cold, Cold, Cold

Good Saturday Morning everyone. Oh my goodness, is it cold here in NC. Woke up to a whole 4 degrees outside. Im sure this is nothing nothing new to some of y'all, but when you from Spring like temps to Winter temps, it makes ya say whoa!!! It's Cold.

Not only did I wake up to cold temps, but our water froze as well. That's not gonna be good. I hope and pray that we will able to get it going sometime today. Dont want the laundry to get to backed up, and then theres the bathroom problems too. What to do what to do....

I think about what folks did when they only had a Johnny House. It would make for a cold trip out that is for sure.

I have a new pattern I need to get busy on, so I guess today will be a good to stay in and get some crafting done. I hope everyone has a great day today. Try to stay warm.

Yup, I hit the thrift store this afternoon. I havent been in a while so while in town I thought why not. I found some things. I got 2 pictures, 2 candle holders the will become a make-do one of these days, a cutting board, and 3 pewter mugs.

Look at those candle holders, makes me wonder who had these 1970's things around their house.

I just love this picture. It makes me want to pull up a chair and sit by the fire and chat away with a dear friend.

This picture I bought for the frame, but I think I like the picture that is it. Whatcha think?

So Depressed!!

I took down the Christmas tree today. It seems so much fun to put it up, but so depressing to take it down. I would leave one up all year, but my family would think Im nuts.

I have done a little cleaning, got alot more to do. I want to get some pics taken and add them to my webshots sometime today. If not today then maybe tomorrow. Not a whole lot going on around here.

We are having spring like weather today. I actually have a window open, it's pretty warm inside the house. Can you believe that. It's January and we have the windows open. What is up with this weather?

Got a few crafts going, but other than that just the usual ole stuff.

My vacation will soon be coming to an end and it will be time for me to go back to work. Kinda depressed to see that come to an end as well. So I have to get the house back in order before that. It has been so nice being home. To bad I couldnt be here all the time.

My dream is to own my own shop. I just dont see that in my future right now. I have pondered this for sometime now and I have made a decision. My friend Angie and I are gonna share a booth here at our local crafters mall. It's called the Corner Junction. Angie has been there for a while now and she and I have talked about me coming in and sharing a booth for sometime now. So I finally made the decision to go ahead and jump right in. I mean how else will I sell my items if no one knows Im out there. I hope we can get in there by the end of week. Wish me, us, luck...

Also, I have had a nice vacation from work. Jay took Wesley with him today and Josh was out hunting with my brother, so I sat down at the sewing machine and stitched up a couple of things.

I made the Valentine Stocking that Becky had as a free pattern, some time ago. And I think it turned out really nice.

I also did a stitchery from Country Rustic Primitives. Mine turned out to be a little bigger than her measurements, but I think it came out pretty good.

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;

And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!

On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!

To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,

So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,

With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,

Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;

A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,

And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;

He had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,

And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

I been workin' on some stitching. We are having our 14th Annual Christmas Get Together on Saturday. 14th??? Ever since Josh was a baby my Mama's sister and her children dont get to see my kids at Christmas because of all the running here an there we have to do. So I have a special day during December where I have my family here for Josh and Wesley to get their gifts from them. It's not many that come, just my Mama and Daddy, my brother and his "new" wife, my Mama's sister and her daughter, Nannie and my Aunt and Uncle that live across the road from us. Not many...

So anyway, I have always tried to have them all a little something to say it's from Josh and Wesley. You know. So I have been busy the past few days working on stitching and painting frames. I have to say that I am not a production worker for sure..... But they are done all but sanding down the frames and adding the stitching. I had one piece of Aida left and it's the funny shaped one there. I guess it will have to go in a little different than the rest of'em. But I am gonna get them finished today!!!

Not to mention gettin' the house cleaned too. I like to put that off until last. With 2 wild boys and a DH, my work sometimes is done in vain... Y'all know what I'm talkin' bout.... giggle.. So I am putter'n around doing a little of this and that.

Fabric Chain...

I thought this morning, I sure have alot of fabric scraps. So what to do with them? Well I had some ticking so I thought I would make a fabric chain. You know, like the paper chains we made in school at Christmas time.

I know that you all know how to make them. I used that no hem stuff on a roll. I dont know exactly what's called. But anyway that's what I used to connect them together.

Once I got them them all linked together I put them on the back of my dining room chairs. I thought about putting them on my tree, but I needed something for my chairs.

Well, it's been a while since I posted anything about what I have been workin' on. It's been so crazy around here with the holidays and everything. I have been busy with getting the house clean and I have been crafting a little inbetween. Not much to talk about though. I thought I would put away the sewin' machine until after Christmas. But being that I can't just quite cold turkey I have been working on stitching. Easy enough right? One that I have been workin' on is the one that I have in my giveaway. I just love it. I have to say I tried all kind of material and it just didnt look right. None of the letters were straight, my x's would disappear and I was just not happy with it.

I finally got some Aida and I love, love, love stitching them now. Everything is where it should be. So to say. So along with all the cleaning that needs to be done, clothes that need to be washed and folded, That is what Im trying to fit in. I need to get some more patterns so I can something new.

Well, my Wednesday seems to loaded with lots of things to do. Sooo I guess I had better get to it.

I wanted to take a break from all my cleaning to wish my blog family a very Happy Thanksgiving.

I have been busy this morning with cleaning. I am trying to get the house ready for the Christmas decorations. It is sooo hard to believe that this year is just about over. Our plans for tomorrow are to have lunch with DH's family and then supper with my family. Oh my! All that food. I dont know why things just cant be simple. I love this time of year, but I hate all the running that we have to do. Do y'all have to go from place to place or do y'all just stay put?

I usually have my tree decorated for tomorrow. I have the lights on it, just got to do the finishing touches. Wesley is excited about decorating. I dont know about Josh. The older he gets the less he cares. Sometimes I know how he feels. I just havent been in the spirit for a few years now. I dont know what's wrong with me.

Anyway, this is not why I dropped in. I hope that everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow. I hope that if you are traveling that you will be safe. So to my blog family..... Happy Thanksgiving.

Yep that's right. I am takin a small vacation. I have been anywhere in the past 2 years. DH has taken the boys up the lake and I stayed home, but now it's my turn. Im taking the boys and we are goin' with my mama and daddy to Myrtle Beach for the weekend. WhooHoo!!! Finally some time away from the house. Do you ever feel like a prisoner in your own home? That's how I have been feelin'. All I do is wash and clean, wash and clean. Sooooo, Im gonna break the door down on Friday and Im outta here. I sooo can not wait... I really need this time away and I think it will do me good. Finally gonna do something for myself.

We are gonna hit the outlet malls down there and do a little Christmas shopping. I dont plan on buying much. Josh and I started the tradition last year of shopping on Black Friday. So we will hit the malls early next Friday, but Im just lookin forward to the time away from home.

I have come down with the "Crud". That's what we call it anyway. Nasty cough, runny nose. I have been trying to fight it off for about a week or two now, but this cold has won. I hate feelin this way. Some of the girls at work have been sick and the kids in the program have been sick, so I guess I had to get it at some point. Last night I felt sooo bad, not feelin much better today either. Seems that it always happens right around the Holidays too.

I have been working on a few things though. I need to work on A LOT more. I did get the free download peppermints that Char offered on her blog a few weeks back. I am pleased with how they turned out. They are soo easy to do, and fun to make.

I also finished up the Vintage Candles that I got from The Primitive Pear. I just love her stuff.

Things have been quite wild around here, with the wedding over I think I might be able to get some things done. I hope to anyway.

Happy Thursday Everyone

It has been one of those weeks. Monday and Tuesday were Teacher Workdays and I had to work longer hours for those 2 days. So now I am behind on things around here. I am so use to gettin up and gettin Dh and Ds out the door to work and school, but had to be at work at 5:30 Monday and Tuesday and then yesterday was just shot!! I didnt get anything done. Then had to rush home last night after work and get supper goin and finished before my cousin got her for me to color her hair. Yep Im a "retired" hairdresser!! Giggle. I havent done hair in a loooong time and the truth is I dont miss it one bit!!!

I do have some peppermints in the works though. I have managed to get them sewn up and I will "Try" to work on those some today. Inbetween the loads of laundry that I have, I hope to at least get them turned and stuffed. I have got to get my bum out and pick up some muslin I am completely out.. That never happens. It's just been sooo crazy around here. This weekend wont offer much help either. Why?? Well it's the big weekend!! My little brother is getting married on Saturday. Friday is rehersal and dinner! Gosh I dont see the light at the end!

Sunday my friend Angie and I are gonna try to go to our friend Angie's house for her Holiday Open House. She doesnt live that far from us, so I believe we are gonna make a road trip. Good Luck Angie on your first Holiday Open House.

Happy Holidays

Here it is already November 1st. I have been thinkin' all day how November will be a short month for Josh and school. He only goes to school 13 days this month. Then he will be out for Thanksgiving break. I know he's ready for it.

As I think about the family get togethers for Thanksgiving, I cant help but think about Christmas and how it's just around the corner. As I say that I think back to when Josh was about 4 years old and how he wanted a toy soooo bad. I told him No toys Christmas is just around the corner. His reply was "What corner?" As he looked around every corner we came to in the mall. Those were the good times. So sweet and innocent.

I have been busy today. I worked on a couple of signs with vinyl lettering that I got from Ami at Kountry Berry Designs. Oh my gosh! How easy are they to do? I could not believe how simple it was. Im not one for stenciling and using paint, so this was very easy for me. Here is what I did today.

I also got a pattern from The Primitive Pear. I got the Vintage Candles and they are sooo easy to make too. I love how they turned out.

So Im gearing up for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am just about in the Christmas Spirit. I think I need to turn on some music and get there already. Giggle. I want to wish you all Happy Holidays. Hugs!
